Monday Motivator 6-13-11 – Responsibility

Good Morning my loyal fitness followers!  It’s time to get your mind right for the week and get ready to beat up on those fitness goals! :-) And if you enjoy the motivator, be sure to leave a comment or reply below!

Ahh, responsibility.  I don’t know about you but when I hear that word it just sounds ominous.  Growing up in San Jose, I can picture my parents or other authority figures looking down at me as a kid (not for long thanks to those growth spurts!) and talking about “responsibility.”  And thinking to myself…. “this responsibility thing sounds horrible!” :-)

And although our perspectives mature and grow and we accept and take on whole loads of responsibility, it can still be difficult, especially in the pursuit of your fitness goals.

So here’s a quote by my main man Mr. Abraham Lincoln who said this:

“You cannot escape the responsibility of tomorrow by evading it today.”

Short and sweet and I love it.  And so should you because it speaks volumes about what we should be doing to take care of ourselves and our bodies.  For example, have you planned out your exercise for the week?  All the F.A.T. san jose bootcamps you’re planning to attend?  What about your food?  Did you plan out your week, shop for the right items and then prepare it so that you’re in the driver’s seat with your nutrition?

Tough to do?  Yes.  Necessary to be successful?  Absolutely.

There will be times where you “don’t have the time” or where “you’re too tired” and it is in these moments of weakness that you must be strong and remember this quote by Lincoln.  BECAUSE, before you know it, these things become habitual!  They become a part of you and your lifestyle and your body reaps the benefits by shedding pounds and bodyfat while your psyche reaps the benefits of an increase in self-esteem and self-confidence.

Responsibilities go even farther than yourself if you have kids because now YOU are the role model.  The more you push yourself to adopt a healthy lifestyle the more ingrained it becomes into their patterns of healthy eating and exercising of your kids.  And with childhood obesity on the rise throughout the U.S. this is a big responsibility and one you can attack head on.  (Side note: If any of you are trying to motivate your kids into action, there is a great trainer for kids, Greg Lanctot, that shares space with us at Eclipse.  http://coachgreg.org/).

Lastly, don’t let your responsibilities to your body come dead last in your priorities.  You deserve the body that you desire and the success that you want.  You just have to go out there and get it!

It’s time to suck it up and make it happen! Take a deep breath and dive in, it’s GO TIME!

Have a terrific start to your week!

Dedicated to your success,
